Frequently Asked Questions

What time does the charter leave in the morning?

We do not have a start time for our charters. Fishing is often best if you start earlier between 6:15-7:00AM. Your time starts when you board the boat. We will not leave without you!

Where do we buy a fishing license?

There are locations near our dock to purchase a fishing license and can be purchased before your trip. A fishing license can be purchased at any IGY store.

What about weather issues?

There is no controlling the weather. Our first priority is safety first and we may need to cancel scheduled trips due to weather. The Port Captain of Cabo San Lucas is responsible for shutting down fishing or any other water activities. If we are unable to fish the day of your trip, we will try and reschedule. If rescheduling isn't possible, 100% of your trip will be refunded.

PLEASE NOTE: Sudden illness or not showing up for a scheduled trip without providing proper medical documentation by a doctor or medical facility will result in a non-refundable trip.

What happens morning of fishing trip?

Someone from Weekend Hooker Charters  will meet you at Dock D gate in the Cabo Marina. After we meet, we will take care of what's due for your fishing trip; cash only please. You will be introduced to the crew as you board the boat and asked what your fishing goals are for the day(easy in shore fishing or looking for the big one!).

Do I need to bring my own cooler on the boat?

No, the boat will have a cooler on board for you to store food and drinks.

Can I keep the fish I catch?

The Weekend Hooker is 100% catch and release on all Marlin and Sailfish. If you catch a Marlin or Sailfish, the crew will bring the fish on the boat for a quick picture and then release it back into water, However, if you catch an eating fish like a Tuna, Dorado, Wahoo, Sea Bass or more, you are welcome to keep them. Ask the crew for recommendations on where to process your catch and restaurants that will happily prepare your fresh catch for you to enjoy the very same day!

How much do I tip the crew?

The crew works very hard to earn your tips. Tips are based on service received. A 20-30% tip is customary.

Can I have my catch mounted?

Yes, let the crew know you would like your fish mounted and a representative from Grey's Taxidermy or Reinehart Taxidermy will meet you at the boat at the end of the fishing trip.
